Graduate Admission Requirements

All international graduate applicants must:

  • Have an earned baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university (You must complete the degree prior to enrollment at BGSU.) 
  • Provide English language proficiency test scores
    Minimum test scores are:
  • TOEFL IBT: 80 (We do not accept the TOEFL MyBest Score.)
  • IELTS: 6.5
  • PTE (Pearson Test of English): 53
  • Duolingo: 110
  • Completion of ELS Intensive English for Academic Purposes Level 112

Documents to submit when you apply

All documents are submitted through the BGSU online application.

  • Scanned copies of official or unofficial transcripts from all institutions you have attended. Upon admission, you will need to submit final official or notarized copies of transcripts from all institutions where you earned degrees (showing dates when the degrees were conferred) and diplomas from international institutions. 
  • Standardized test scores (GRE, GMAT, PRAXIS, OAE) may be required. Check with your academic program. 
  • Programs may also require recommendations, a statement of purpose, a resume and other documents. Check with your academic program.

Important note about documents

If admitted, all documents must be official and in the English language. We cannot accept photocopies or documents marked "Issued to Student."

To qualify as an official document, your document must be ONE of the following:

  • Original document
  • Notarized or attested copy
  • Official English translation with the official seal or stamp of the notary or the English translator on each document

All credentials submitted to BGSU become the property of BGSU and will not be released.
